District 7 Spring Meeting Minutes

The Spring Meeting of the District 7 Agricultural Educators was held on April 16th, 2014 at the Ohio FFA Center.  The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by President-Brian Breece. 

 

BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

á       Unfinished Business

o   Set the tentative dates for 2014-15.  Please see attached schedule of events. 

 

o   Jeff Ellis moved to hold the meeting after the Regional Meeting if that is what they state decides we are doing now.  2nd by Susan Metzger.  Motion passed. 

 

o   Gina Neff moved to not grade cover letters and resumes for the District Job Interview Contest.  2nd by Rachel Scior.  Motion passed. 

 

á       New Business         

o   Nominated and elected with a unanimious vote to appoint Tom Holton as the District 7 representative to serve with District 6 on the FFA Board of Trustees.  It is a  3 year term and meets twice a year normally. 

 

o   Announced that there will be District Officer Elections at the Evaluation Meeting next winter.  Let Brian know if you are interested in a position. 

 

o   Items for Scott Sharp to take to Delegate Council: 

 

¤  Tom Holton moved to let teachers administer the webxams for their district.  2nd by Rachel Scior. Motion passed. 

¤  (If you have concern on this topic, please show it to Ike Kershaw, by calling him at 614-644-5922). 

¤  Scott Sharp moved to have Ag Issues moved away from Ag Communications Contests.  2nd by Craig Hart.  Motion passed. 

 

á       ODE Update

o   Changes for next year: 

¤  As of July 1st we will no longer be using the SAE Server but will be using judgingcard.com.  Students will be able to register for CDE testing using their Ag Career Network ID and password.  We will also be able to view results there, as well as copies of the scantron as to what the member marked.  This will also hopefully take the judging card and transfer right into the AET record books. 

 

¤  It is an absolute must that the FFA Membership be done by September 30th for 1st semester kids.  Then again in January for the 2nd semester members. 

 

¤  There will be uniformity on contest as to who competes in the finals.  Such as 4 of the 6 will go onto the finals. 

 

¤  Refer to the Powerpoint presentation that Kevin Williams sent out for the rest of his presentation notes.
