District 7 Fall Meeting Minutes
Thursday, August 24, 2017
The
Fall Meeting of the District 7 Agricultural Educators was held on Thursday,
August 24, 2017 at the Ohio FFA Center.
The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by President-Tom Holton.
Dinner was
provided by DB Yummers, Tim Tosca,
Florida Farm Bureau, Florida Fruit Association, and Fruit Growers Marketing. Bill
Diley also gave a short presentation about the fruit sale and changes this
year. Jeff Detty gave a short presentation about the BBQ Sauce.
Dr. Susie
Whittington gave a short presentation/update about OSU College of Food,
Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences with all of the wonderful things they
are doing.
John Henry also
gave a short presentation/update about Central State University School of
Agriculture.
Then Tom welcomed
everyone to the meeting. There was a reminder to fill out the survey for Summer
Conference.
- Previous Minutes are
on the web and they will stand as read.
- TreasurerÕs Report
- Balance is $5,118.21
- Reminder that dues
are $1 per member each year, and if you havenÕt paid for this year yet,
you need to do so. Everything
to do so is on the website and is updated with JakeÕs information.
- Moved by Adam Staley
to approve the treasurer report and 2nd by Rachel Scior. Motion passed and report will
stand as read.

Conference survey was filled out
- District Roster was
updated
- Board of Trustees- District
elected Adam Staley at the end of last meeting/over the summer.
- Legislative-Scott

- Scott updated us on
the following:
- 5th
Quarter stays the same
- 2 House bills made
to State House requires students to take financial classes, but Ag.
Classes doe not count
- May change school
funding with State tax
- Scott also promoted
OAAE membership and stated why everyone should be a member
- Membership-Gina Neff
- State benefits of
membership
- CDE Skills—Deb
Burden
- Summer meeting recap
- Participating at
sub-district CDEÕs needs submitted to Tom Olgesby on an Excel sheet with
hopes of uploading on Judging Card in the near future. If you send Deb
your sub-district results she will forward them to Tom for you.
- All State CDEÕs are on AET Calendar.
- Changes for Ag.
Com. CDE:
- No video or web
design this year because of the remodeling being done at OSU. See the
rules under this CDE in the Google folder. The changes will be in red.
- New substitute
policy- this is also listed in the rules that can be found in the Google
Folder. You will still need State IDÕs. You can print State ID cards on
AET. You just need an ID with a picture, grade, age, and name.
- District Calendars
were passed out.
- District CDE
helpful notes were also passed out as a Draft. This will gibe an
overview of Rules. Final draft will be sent out via email.

Moorman and Gina Neff. Megan Moorman won the vote.

o Jake Wuebben moved to adjourn the business meeting. Scott Sharp seconded it. Motion passed.
