The Ohio Farm Bureau

The Ohio Farm Bureau(OFBF) represents farms all around Ohio. There job is to keep costs low and to defend the farmers rights. There is over 5,000,000 Members Nations wide and over 230,000 members in Ohio.

The OFBF has many jobs. They lobby in Washington D.C. to pass the laws that support the farmers around Ohio the best. They also play a big role in environmental concerns, such as the need for alternate fuels such as Bio-diesel, E-90 and so on. Recently, they had helped pass a bill that brought the amount of renewable fuel production up from 3.5 billion gallons and nearly doubled it to 7.5 billion gallons.

The OFBF Also plays a major part in the senate of Ohio. There name as a support has a lot of weight to who will vote for them. They keep records on how each member votes so that if it was in their favor most of the time they will support them and if not then they lose votes.

There are also many things such as migrant worker programs that they play a major role in creating. There currently is one, but they are working on making it better and more accessible so that farmers can collect there product at the lowest cost possibly lowering future ethanol based fuel prices.

The OFBF works on all levels of government in many ways working together and sometimes against them. The overall goal is to ensure that Ohio farmers get what they want that’s it what’s best for our farmer’s is what’s best for our state.
