Heather is very active. At A-C she hasparticipated in numerous contests, placing very high. Heather'sawesome attitude and great respect for everyone has proven to be anincredible asset to the A-C FFA.

Part of a long line of FFA tradition, Roberthas proven to be a very active member. Last year he served astreasurer with his treasurers book, a very complex project, receivinga perfect score. Robert is a hard worker and a very humorousfriend.

Angela's friendly disposition and attitudehas brought her many accomplishments. Her speaking abilities haveplaced her very high in competition. She has participated inParliamentary Procedure, aiding in the achievement of a gold ratinglast year by the team.

Mark's determination and dependability arewhat people notice first. When not helping with the Chapter, Mark isusually found working with his dad around the farm or at AmandaGrain.

Matt is another one for following familytradition. Serving as reporter last term, Matt's joking personalityand willingness to work definitely aid in his active day to dayschedule.

Michael served as sentinel last year. He isnoted for his ability to volunteer and to be friend. He also is foundworking on the family farm when not aiding in the growth of the A-CFFA Chapter.

With a love of writing and a uniqueattitude, Coty is happily serving as reporter. She has taken part inmany contests and plans to compete even more this year. Coty is notedas being an outgoing individual as well as a loyal friend.

In short, your officer team has an exclusiveblend of leadership, determination and companionship that arerequired to lead an FFA Chapter. Under the advisory of Mr. JeffTilley and Mr. Scott Sharp, both officers and members are certain toobtain "those qualities of leadership that an FFA member shouldposses."


New Members - About 50 new freshmen will be joining theAmanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter. We just keep growing and growing...
Writing Opportunities - Mr. Tilley has agreed to issue bonus points forthose members who supply ideas to be published in the News Letter oras a News Release in the Eagle-Gazzette! The better the idea the morepoints and those articles used in the News Releases will count formore than those in the News Letter. For more info, contact yourChapter News Reporter, Coty Bodamer or refer to the Reporters note,located at the end of this letter!
State Fair Info - The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter hosted thevisitation of the State Center at the Ohio State Fair. Membersgreeted and helped visitors with questions. Those helping at theState FFA Center were: Kristina Campbell, Miranda Caton, Lance Green,Amy Araujo, Brandy Vannoy, Dawn Helber, Tosha Estell, Joe Davis, JoshKnotts, Randall Miller, and Jennifer Cochran. Various members of boththe A-C FFA and the National Honor Society attended the RecyclingRangers, also at the State Fair. Members were paid to clean up thefair grounds. Those people from the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA were: BetsySharp, Silas Carpenter, Devon Timmons, Heather and Rachel Makarius,Michael Shaeffer, Joe Althaus, and Amanda Dillie. Those members ofthe National Honor Society that helped were: Brooke Riddle, SarahCramer, Kim Stevens, and Sarah Ingle.Thanks for all the help!
Officer Retreat - The officers and their assistants took a workingretreat to Tar Hollow State Park. Among the many activities wereplanning for the up-coming year, hiking galore and swimming. Therewas also dinner and breakfast over an open fire and camping.
Summer FFA Camp - 32 members represented the A-C FFA this year atFFA Camp this year. There were 4 graduates: Chris White, MikeEllinger (who also attended the Ohio Leadership Conference), JonSingleton, and Jarred Johnson; 7 Seniors: Dan Tooill, NathanHolbrook, Mike Justice, Justin Louks, Jesse Casto, Heather Makarius,and Cliff Rutter; 9 Juniors: Ryan Foster, Eddy Cox, Zach McPherson,Sidney Bennett, Jennifer Phillips, Angela Davis, Mark Francis, KevinStrickler, and Ronda Pickett; and 12 Sophomores: Kristin Graves,Tabby Strausz, Beth Fouse, Erin Gilfillen, Lindsey Turner, JaceSpires, Katie Bowman, Deanna Pontius, Craig Stevens, Hank Elder, MaryWhite, and Rachel Makarius. Josh Knotts attended Forestry Camp aswell. Those attending Camp this year have tied lasts yearsAmanda-Clearcreek crowd with 32 members total!!
Washington LeadershipConference - Heather Makarius andAmanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter's Assistant Vice-President, KevinStrickler represented the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA at the WashingtonLeadership Conference. Heather found the whole experience veryexciting. " We met people from all over the country and theexperience encouraged you to be more outgoing. Your stuck in a roomwith people you've never met before asking you questions. Youcouldn't be shy." She commented on her improved speaking skills aswell. Heather is the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter President. Whenasked about his most memorable part of the trip, Kevin, replied "Thetrip was great. We met people from all over and it was awesome tomeet that many people and share so much in common. The best part wasat the end of the day when we would all get together, reflect on thedays experiences and get to know each other, it gave you something toreally think about." Both members toured the area and enjoyed thelocal historical monuments. In order to even attend this conferencein our nations capital, a very invigorating interview, as well as areview of each members grades and projects take place and thoseapplying members are the one's chosen from to attend.
Farm Science Review - September 19th the A-C FFA will take its membersto the Farm Science Review 2000. Members will have the chance toobserve how agriculture in general has changed over the years. Moreinfo will be given in class. This is an outdoor display ofagricultural machinery and other ag products.
Contests - The Rural and Urban Soils contests will bebeginning soon. Please see Mr. Sharp for more info.See Mr. Tilley formore info on the Forestry contests if you would like toparticipate.

Any and all contests are open to ALL membersof the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter still enrolled in any of the Ag.Ed. classes. Everyone should try to get involved in at least onecontest.


National FFAConvention - The last week ofOctober the A-C FFA will be taking members to Louisville, Kentuckyfor the FFA National Convention. This is an overnight trip and is agreat opportunity to get to know the FFA and your fellow membersbetter! See Mr. Tilley or Mr. Sharp A.S.A.P for more info.
Ag Breakfast - The July ag breakfast was held at Frisches on the6th. Those attending were: Mark Francis, Angela Davis, Brandy Vannoy,Beth Fouse, Heather and Rachel Makarius, Cliff Rutter, and MikeJustice. On August 10th the monthly Ag Breakfast was held at BobEvans. Those attending were: Chris Thorton, Clayton Sharp, JeremiahWalker, Ryan Foster, Robert Blosser, Mark Francis, Angela Davis, andBrandy Vannoy.

The September ag. breakfast was held atFrisches and it was packed full with some 50 members in attendance!


Straw Help - The wheat has been harvested and the straw hasbeen baled.Lance Green , Heather and Rachel Makarius,Jon Noll, NickLee, Brian Strickler, Dan Tooill, Tosha Estell and Mark Francisassisted in baling a little over 1,000 bales. Thanks to all those whohelped!
The Ohio Young FarmersTour - The Ohio Young Farmers Tourwas a success! Setting up for the tour were: Mark Francis, MichaelShaeffer, Heather and Rachel Makarius, Brian and Kevin Strickler,Chris Hanes, Jerry Snyder, Jon Singleton, and Casey Teets. Helpingwith the breakfast were: Jace Spires, Jennifer Cochran, Beth Fouse,Brandy Vannoy, Angela Davis, Heather and Rachel Makarius, Amy Araujo,Shawn Goodman, Josh Parsons, and Erin Gilfillen. Staying an extrahour was Matt Lamp. Kellie Sharp, Eric Valentine and Nick Greiner(A-C FFA Alumni members) also attended and helped out! Cleaning upafterwards were: Heather and Rachel Makarius, Beth Fouse and DanTooill. Thank you to ALL of those who helped!
Reporters Note - Hey! Welcome back! Not to much longer till summer,right? Yeah, anyway, older members, please feel free to help thefreshmen get to know the ropes of our chapter and show them around...we have 50 some-odd freshman that I'm sure could use a helpinghand...

On a more serious note, please remember thatthis is the chapter News Letter. The members do have a say in whatthey want to see printed! Bonus point possibilities are an issuehere! The way I see it, I can't be every where at every moment, andthose of you who witness something or just have something bugg'n youto the point that you feel you need to be heard, you can write me,let me know and get extra points for it!
