The Next Meeting of the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter will be held on October 21, 2002 at 7:00 PM.


National Convention

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the National FFA Organization! Members will travel to Louisville, KY to celebrate and attend the National FFA Convention. Members will become a part of the "sea of blue jackets." They will hear inspiring messages from natinally renounded speakers, compete for career development events, explore careers at the National FFA Agricultural Career Show, and share emotional retiring addresses with the 2001-2002 National FFA Officers.

The following A-C FFA members will be attending: Crish Alvey, Michelle Ball, Josh Behrens, Maggie Bowman, Lindsay Carpenter, Amanda Cassidy, Heather Cramer, Dan Flowers, Calvin Hanes, Erika Hardman, Heather Hines, Sara Howard, Cerene Kilbarger, Emilee Klamfoth, Lindsey Lama, Rachel Makarius, Mallory McMaster*, Margo McMaster, Ashley Rodgers, Meagan Silva*, Cassi Slone*, Jace Spires, June Spires, Martina Stanley, Greg Wehrle, Amie White, Samantha Wiggins and Jenny Zaayer*. Chaperones will be Mr. Tilley, Mr. Falk and Jennifer Cochran

Adopt-a-Highway

The Chapter will be holding an Adopt-a-Highway on October 23rd. We are meeting in the shop at 3:30 PM. We will be cleaning our 3-mile section of State Route 159 between Tommy Wayne's and Oakland. All members are encouraged to participate. See Mr. Tilley or Mr. Sharp if you are interested.
Parliamentary Procedure Contest

Sign-up will begin immediately for all members interested in being a part of the Parliamentary Procedure team. This contest tests your ability to preform parliamentary procedure skills, as used in our monthly chapter meetings. See Mr. Tilley as soon as possible if you are interested

State FFA President Visits

On October 17th, the State FFA President, Marlene von Stein, will visit the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter.The chapter purchased this visit at FFA Camp, in the form of a donation to Children's Hospital, along with Teays Valley, Liberty Union and Bloom Carroll. During her visit, Marlene will work with freshman and sophomores on various leadership activities.
County Soils Results

Holly Edwards, Emilee Klamfoth, Jennifer Evans and Alexa Stewart competed in the County Urban Soils Contest on September 24th. The team finished 3rd overall. Holly placed 11th, Emilee placed 12th, Jennifer placed 16th, and Alexa placed 19th.

Jace Spires, Steven Johnson, Amie White, Seth Matheny, Jonathan Johnson and Gary Hart competed in the County Rural Soils Contest. Jace placed 4th, Steven placed 7th, Amie placed 14th, Seth placed 16th, Jonathan placed 20th and Gary placed 23rd. The team placed 2nd overall.
State Forestry

The State Forestry contest was held on October 5th, at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. The team placed 23rd in the state, with Jace Spires placing 46th, Sara Howard placing 174th, and Crish Alvey placing 120th.
Fruit Sale Commences

The annual fruit sale will begin in November. This is the chapter's largest fund raiser, so make an effort to sell a lot of fruit. Each seller who sells over 25 boxes of fruit has the opportunity to travel to the National Farm Machinery show and National Tractor Pulls in Louisville, KY in February. Freshman members also get a chance to recieve their FFA Jacket for free if they sell over 50 boxes of fruit. Fruit forms are due on November 15th. Fruit should be delivered December 10th and 11th.
