October Meeting

The October FFA meetingwill be held on Monday,October 18th at 7 pm. TheAg Challenge will be the Straw Bale Toss. One male and one femalefrom each class will be needed to throw a wire-tied straw bale fordistance. A class must have a representative of both genders or theywill be judged as not participating.
October AgBreakfast

The October Ag Breakfastwill be held on October7th at Tee Jaye's at 6:45a.m. This is a great way to socialize before school and to start yourday off right with breakfast.
National FFAConvention

During the National FFAConvention, we will attend many sessions with thousands of other FFAmembers from all fifty states plus Puerto Rico and the VirginIslands. During each session, the current national FFA officers willgive knowledgeable and inspiring speeches. There are also many guestspeakers that will discuss their life experiences as well as manyspeakers who will help in motivating you to become more active inorganizations as well as in life. This year's keynote speaker isformer NFL Washington Redskins Quarterback Joe Theisman. During thefinal session, you will be able to witness the installation of thenew national FFA officers, which is always an exciting time.

Also, you will have plentyof free time to attend the Career Show. The Career Show is filledwith booths from companies such as: Ford, John Deere, NASA, Dewalt,most state FFA associations and many others. During your week at theNational FFA Convention, you may also have the opportunity to attendone of the convention dances and a music concert hosted by the FFA;add in various educational tours and you have a great 5-day trip.Some of the tours we are taking Are to be, touring the Kentucky HorsePark, the Forestry Discovery Center, the Huber Orchard and Winery,Howard Steamboat museum and Mansion, and a visit to the LouisvilleZoo. Attendees will be: Crish Alvey, Adam Baldwin, Jessie Berisford, O'nealBlackburn, Christine Boso, Christine Bussert, Jordan Collins, JuddEllinger, Madison Fausnaugh, Adam Foster, Heather Hines, ShaelynIles, Brittany Manson, Josh Mathes, Brittany Miller, Kayla Notestone,Chelsea Polt, Dylan Richard, Chelsey Rutter, Crystal Covell, KaylaHill, and Lars Abel.
Fruit Sale

The annual fruit sale willbegin this month. This is the chapter's largest fundraiser, so makean effort to sell a lot of fruit. Each seller who sells over 25 boxesof fruit has the opportunity to travel to the National Farm Machineryshow and National Tractor Pulls in Louisville, KY in February.Freshman or other first year members who do not have their FFA jacketalso get a chance to receive their FFA Jacket for free if they sellover 50 boxes of fruit. Fruit forms are due on November 17th. Fruitshould be delivered December 10th and 11th. Due to the severe weatherin Florida this year, the start of the fruit sale will be delayeduntil October 18th.
Farm ScienceReview

The A-C FFA Chapterattended on Tuesday, September 21st. We had 100 members inattendance. This was one of the largest groups we have taken to theFarm Science Review in chapter history.
District Soils

The Rural Soils Teamconsisted of CortneyCollins, Brittany Manson, Shaelyn Iles, and ErikaHardman. The Districtsoils contest was held on September 21st. The team placed 16th withCortney placing 60th, Brittanyplacing 68th, Shaelynplacing 70th, and Erikaplacing 77th.
Knox CountyInvitational

The Forestry Teamconsisting of ErikaHardman, Cortney Collins, Alex Ogan, April Senften, and Crish Alvey recently participated in the Knox CountyInvitational Forestry contest which was held on September 23rd. Theteam placed 7th, with Aprilplacing 28th, Alexplacing 46th,Crish placing 39th,Erika placing 47th, and Cortney placing 43rd.
Truck Giveaway

This program is based uponhelping out local FFA Chapters and the Ohio FFA Association. A newChevy Silverado truck the General Motors Company has donated to theOhio FFA Association will be given away at the State FFA Convention.Begin August 26th, FFA chapters participating in the program willcollect $5.00 donations from consumers at various community eventsfor a chance to win the Silverado. The donations generated will helpsupport the local FFA chapter involved in the program. ItÕsimportant to know that 100% of the donations collected stay withinthe FFA and 80% of the donations collected stay within the local FFAchapter. Also, each ticket has an additional value. Ticket holderscan take their donation ticket to the sponsoring area dealerships inorder to receive a free Chevrolet T-shirt, which for us is TaylorChevrolet in Lancaster. Thank you Taylor Chevrolet. Our chaptercollected donations at the Farm Science Review, the AmandaFirefighters Festival, and the homecoming game held on September24th. We are still collecting donations till mid-November. AgriculturalCommunications

The AgriculturalCommunications Contest tests student knowledge and understanding ofthe various forms of communication within the industry ofagriculture. A chapter may enter a team consisting of four members,each taking a multiple choice test, completing an editing exercise,completing individual practicum's and finally, the team presents aproject proposal. If you are interested in AgriculturalCommunications you can sign up in Mr. Tilley's room during class. Arun off test will be given shortly after fair, so don't delay.
ParliamentaryProcedure

The ParliamentaryProcedure Contest tests student knowledge and understanding ofparliamentary procedure as it can be used in a business meeting. Atpresent, the contest consists of a team presentation that can last upto sixteen minutes and a question and answer period at the end.Currently, a chapter may enter between nine and twelve members on ateam. If you are interested in Parliamentary Procedure you can signup in Mr. Tilley's room during class. Contest preparation will beginafter fair, so sign-up now!!!
Fall ColtConference

SkylerBaldwin andCortneyCollins attended thisyears fall COLT Conference. They were required to wear official dressand to bring with them lots of enthusiasm! They also attendedmotivational workshops that will enhance their year as a leader intheir chapter and discovered exciting ways to make their chaptersuccessful! Headlining this year's COLT Conference was Rhett Laubachwho was one of our keynote speakers at the 76th Ohio FFA Convention.
Baby Animal Farm

The A-C FFA hosted thebaby animal farm on Saturday of the Fire Fighters Festival which washeld on the grassy area outside the Amanda Library. Many baby animalswere there for kids of all ages to pet and learn about.
