FFA Meeting

                The FFA meeting for October was held the 17th at 7:00 P.M. The Ag challenge was the straw bale toss. Just as with every Ag challenge, each grade needed one male and one female representative to participate or the class would’ve been disqualified. The winners of the Ag challenge were the Seniors.

Ag Breakfast

                The Ag Breakfast for October was held the 6th at Tee Jaye’s at 6:45 A.M.

Fairfield County Livestock Judging Contest

                The Fairfield County Livestock Judging Contest was held on Sunday, October 9th at 4:00 P.M. at the Junior Fair Swine Arena. All members planning on participating in the Livestock Judging CDE in the spring must have participated in the contest.

Fairfield County Fair

                Every year, our chapter has a booth at the fair. Our booth had projects from our Ag Science II, Ag Business I, Ag Production I, and Ag Production II classes. There were around 100 projects in our booth which the students made. This years results are as follows: Alex Reid placed 1st in welding, Adam Foster placed 2nd in small woodworking, Matt Nestor placed 4th, and Christine Boso placed 5th in electricity. Adam Baldwin placed 1st, Kayla Hill placed 2nd, Dustin Baxter placed 3rd, Crystal Covell placed 4th, and April Senften placed 5th in agricultural collections. Congratulations to everyone that placed!

Annual Hog Roast

                 The Amanda -Clearcreek Annual Hog Roast was held on Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00 P.M. This was a great way to get together with your friends, family,  and community members. This was a great way to introduce your parents to what FFA is all about. 

State Forestry CDE

                The S tate Forestry CDE was held on Saturday, October 8th at 9:00 A.M. at Hocking College. The forestry team recently competed in the Knox County Forestry Contest to help them practice and improve for the state contest. Team members are: Bobbi Edwards, Stacey Sams, April Senften, Alex Ogan, Josh Ayers,   and Greg Bowers . The team placed 19th, with individual scores: April placed 46th, Stacey placed 83rd, Alex placed 117th, Greg placed 139th, T.J. placed 161st, and Bobbi placed 185th. Josh Ayers, Josh Cordle, and Erika Hardman all participated in the Knox County Forestry Invitational but were not able to go to the state contest.

National FFA Convention

                The National FFA Convention will be held October 26th-29th in Louisville, Kentucky. Members who are attending will be going to various sessions that are going to be held each day. Along with that, they will be going to places such as the Hard Rock Cafe, Louisville Science Center and IMAX Theatre, and various other agricultural tours, just to name a few. They will also watch as Jace Spires, an  Amanda-Clearcreek graduate, receives his American FFA Degree.

Committee Chairs

                Con gratulations to the following people for being chose as a committee chair for the 2005-2006 school year! Chapter Development: Emiley Bolin and Christine Boso , Community Development: Lacey Price and Ben Ball, and Student Development: Megan Underhill and T.J. Miller.

Fall Fruit Sale

                 The fall fruit sale officially started October 17th. Orders are due by or before November 16th. All members are asked to sell fruit, but it is not required.  The earnings made from the sale will help the chapter pay for various costs incurred throughout the year ranging from contest registration costs to bus fuel costs and offsetting camp costs. Fruit delivery will be on December 5th. Fruit pick-up will be on December 6th and 7th. Students will be responsible for the delivery of the fruit and the collection of money. Anyone interested in purchasing fruit can contact any FFA member, or contact Mr. Sharp or Mr. Tilley.

COLT Conference

                This year our chapter had three members attend the COLT Conference. They were: Christine Bussert, Erika Hardman, and Kyle Kennedy . They attended the conference along with other FFA members around the state. The purpose of the conference was to develop new leadership skills which members can bring back to their chapter.

Chapter Trap Shoot

                A BIG thanks goes out to Barb and Lonnie Green for hosting a chapter trap shoot which was held on Sunday, September 25th. Our chapter had 21 members and 11 guests attend.

District Soils Results

                Urban Soils: This years urban soils team placed 13th. Placing individually were; Erika Hardman 45th, T.J. Miller 50th, Jessie Berisford 63rd, and Andrew Gobel 71st.

                Rural Soils: This years rural soils team placed 20th. Placing indivdually were; Greg Bowers 53rd, Bobbi Edwards 81st, Kyle Kennedy 87th, and Max Noll 90th.
