May Meeting


The next FFA meeting will be held on Monday, May 16th at 7:00 P.M. The Ag Challenge will be Tug-of-War. There will be a boy and a girl team for each grade level. Each team will consist of 5 members. Freshmen will go against Sophomores, and Juniors will go against Seniors. The two winning teams will go against each other and the two losing teams will go against each other. This will be the last Ag Challenge of the year.


Chapter Awards Banquet


The chapter awards banquet will be Saturday, May 21st at 4:00 P.M. The banquet is mandatory for all FFA members and will be part of their grade. If members do not attend, the alternative is a six page report. See Mr. Sharp or Mr. Tilley for your assignment if you can’t make it. The banquet is served potluck style;freshmen and sophomores will be responsible for providing dinner items. Juniors and senior are responsible for providing desserts. The chapter will provide ham, chicken, rolls, and drinks. This is a family event; we hope that all parents and immediate family members can attend. We also encourage all former FFA members, and community supporters to attend. The more the merrier!


FFA Camp


FFA Camp will be July 11th-15th in Carrolton, Ohio. Camp forms are available now, see Mr. Tilley A.S.A.P. Camp is an awesome way to meet new people and make new friends. Come and see for yourself what it’s all about!


District Officer Training


On Thursday, April 7th, our chapter officers, and assistant officers, attended the District 7 Officer Training at Lancaster High School. Officers and their assistants attended two workshops, one of which helped them with their officer skills and another about teamwork. Officers that attended were: Jessica Caisse, Bobbi Edwards, Ashley Lamb, Erika Hardman, and Christine Bussert. Assistants that attended were: Stacey Sams, Jodi Roush, Judd Ellinger, Kyle Kennedy, and Kayla Notestone.


Spring CDEs


On Saturday, April 2nd the State Spring CDE contests were held in Columbus at the State Fairgrounds. The teams and placings are as follows:
Agronomy- The team placed 21st, with Skyler Baldwin placing 89th, Nic White placing 95th, Greg Bowers placing 104th, and Nate Saum placing 114th.
Dairy Cattle- The team placed 24th, with Crish Alvey placing 73rd, Heather Hines placing 63rd, Kayla Notestone placing 105th, and Jodi Roush placing 141st
Equine Management- The team placed 27th, with Judd Ellinger placing 215th, Kelsey Goodman placing 211th, Emily Bolin placing 76th, and June Spires placing 35th.
General Livestock- The team placed 46th, with Christian Hoffman placing 92nd, Christine Bussert placing 179th, Max Noll placing 260th, Brad Bowers placing 328th, Tiffany Brown placing 517th, and Lacey Price placing 558th.
Wildlife Management- The team placed 21st, with Stacey Sams placing 72nd, Cerene Kilbarger placing 77th, and Crystal Covell placing 120th.
Poultry- The team placed 35th, with Trent Strous placing 48th, and Kayleigh Brubach placing 75th. Samantha Reid also participated but was not scored.


State Speaking Preliminaries


The State Speaking Preliminaries were held on Saturday, March 19th. Jodi Roush placed 1st in the district advancing her to the State Level. Jodi placed 3rd in her State Preliminary round in Creed Speaking. Congratulations Jodi!!


State FFA Convention


The State FFA Convention will be held on Thursday, May 5th, Friday, May 6th, and Saturday, May 7th. We have three members that will be receiving their State FFA Degrees. The State FFA Degree is the next degree a FFA member may achieve after they have received their Chapter Degree. Only the top 2% of the over 22,000 FFA members in Ohio ever receive this award. Those members are: Christian Hoffman, Lindsey, Carpenter, and Brad Bowers. Lindsey and Christian will also be receiving proficiency awards as they are both in the top 3 in the state in their respective areas. Members that are attending are also participating in a State Contest.

The State Contests are Agricultural Engineering, Animal Health, Aquarium Management, Cooperative Education, Farm Business Management, Greenhand Quiz, and Meats Judging.

Miller, Kayla Notestone, Stacey Sams, Laurie Segovia, and June Spires.

This year our chapter has 3 members who have made the State FFA Band. They are: Bobbi Edwards on percussion, Ashley Lamb on french horn, and Stacey Sams on trumpet. Good job!


Baby Animal Farm


This years baby animal farm will be held on Wednesday, May 25th. Members are able to bring in baby animals that they may have, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, chickens, goats, etc. We will have the elementary students coming down during the school day to look at the animals. If you are planning on participating in the baby animal farm you need to make arrangements with Mr. Sharp.


Mulch Trip


The mulch trip will be held from May 26th-30th. This trip is for the top 15 mulch sellers who have sold 150 bags of mulch or more. They will be going caving, and backpacking in Kentucky. The trip qualifiers are: Adam Baldwin, Brad Bowers, Greg Bowers, Stacey Sams, April Senften, Cody Thomson, Samantha Reid, Crystal Covell, T.J. Hines, Ashley Lamb, Ben Ball, Christine Bussert, Jessica Caisse, Madison Fausnaugh, T.J. Miller, and Lindsay Lama.


Small Engines CDE


On Tuesday, April 5th our Chapter’s Small Engines team went to Teays Valley High School for the District Small Engines Contest. The team placed 5th, with Dani Sowers placing 10th, T.J. Hines placing 13th, and Stacey Sams placing 15th.


3rd Nine Weeks Ag Honor Roll


Last nine weeks we had a total of 51 people on the Ag Honor Roll. To be on the Ag Honor Roll you must attain an A or A- on your report card for the Ag class that you are in. Ag Science I: Lars Abel, Jessie Berisford, Greg Bowers, Judd Ellinger, Madison Fausnaugh, Andrew Gobel, T.J. Miller, Max Noll, Chelsey Rutter, O’neal Blackburn, Kelsey Goodman, Taylor Griebel, Kyle Kennedy, Kayla Notestone, and Jodi Roush. Ag Science II: Megan Underhill, Ben Ball, Jessica Caisse, Courtney Cox, Ashley Lamb, Adam Baldwin, Emiley Bolin, Christine Bussert, Crystal Covell, T.J. Hines, Shaelyn Iles, Stacey Sams, Laurie Segovia, April Senften, and Dustan Timmons. Ag Business I: Erika Hardman, Debbie Picklesimer, and Nic White. Ag Business II: Brad Bowers, Heather Hines, Amanda Cassidy, and June Spires. Ag Business Options: Natasha Brigner, Samantha Reid, Dani Sowers, and Bryan Hill. Ag Production I: Brent Poston, Heather Cramer, Kelsey Johnston, Cerene Kilbarger, Zac Saum, and Holli Arledge. Ag Production II: Brad Bowers, Lindsey Carpenter, Christian Hoffman, Trent Strous, and Megan Braden. Good job everyone!


Liberty Union Ag Olympics


The Liberty Union Ag Olympics will be held on Monday, May 9th at Liberty Union High School. Many different contests will be held between all the chapters that attend. This is another great opportunity to meet members from around the county. Our chapter is known for having a large number of people attend, lets keep it that way. Mr. Tilley and Mr. Sharp will provide more details in class.


Tree Planting


On Wednesday, April 6th, members helped out our school by planting trees around the baseball and softball diamonds. We had 150 Alberta Spruce Trees donated to the chapter to be planted at the school.


Forestry Field Day


On Friday, April 22nd members who are interested in being on the forestry and wildlife management contest teams went down to Hocking College for the Forestry Field Day. This was a day to better their knowledge about the contests. Those members in attendance were: Bobbi Edwards, Erika Hardman, Stacey Sams, Crystal Covell, Josh Ayers, April Senften, Kyle Kennedy, and T.J. Miller.


March Of Dimes


On April 24th, 7 members participated in the March Of Dimes Walk America. They were: Bobbi Edwards, Stacey Sams, Erika Hardman, Laurie Segovia, Brittany Manson, Shaelyn Iles, and Adam Baldwin. This walk was to raise money to help save premature babies.


Cross Mound Park Clean-Up


On April 27th members went to Cross Mound Park. This is an activity that our chapter has participated in off and on for 10 years. Members cleaned up brush, picked up broken boards, and cleaned off paths. Members that attended were: April Senften, Joe Smith, Dustin Baxter, J.R. Rogers, T.J. Hines, Laurie Segovia, Stacey Sams, Bobbi Edwards, Ashley Lamb, Greg Bowers, Brad Bowers, Brent Poston, Alex Reid, and Dan Flowers.
