FFA Meeting

                The next FFA Meeting will be on February 13th in the Ag Center at 7:00 P.M.  This will be the meeting that we will elect our chapter officers for the 2006-2007 school year. The Ag Challenge for this meeting will be marshmellow stuffing. This requires one boy and one girl from each class.

Ag Breakfast

Ag Breakfast was held on Thursday, February 2nd at 6:45 A.M. at Frisches.

Agricultural Sales CDE

                The District Ag Sales CDE was held on Tuesday, January 24th at Lancaster High School. The team of Brittany Manson, Shaelyn Iles, Ashley Lamb, and D.J. Hopkins placed 2nd in the district, with Brittany placing 2nd, Ashley placing 8th, Shaelyn placing 16th, and D.J. placing 17th. The team will advance to the state contest, which will be held on March 4th at Tolles Tech Vocational School. Good Job!!

Job Interview CDE

                The District Job Interview CDE was held on Tuesday, January 24th at Lancaster High School. Madison Fausnaugh placed 4th in the 9th/10th grade division and Crystal Covell placed 3rd in the 11th/12th grade division. Good job ladies!

National Farm Machinery Show Trip

                The National Farm Machinery Show Trip will be held February 17-19 in Louisville, Kentucky. Any member who sold at least 25 boxes of fruit was eligible to attend. Members who are attending are: Crystal Covell, Ashley Lamb, Bobbi Edwards, T.J. Miller, Kyle Kennedy, David Sams, Greg Bowers, J.R. Rogers, Seth Farmer, Andrea Brumfield, Ray Spence, Josh Cordle, J.D. Stover, Nic White, Ryan Davis, C.J. Broaddus, Alisha Kougher, Alex Ogan, and Brittany Pinkstock.

Chapter FFA Degree Recipients

                 The following members received their Chapter FFA Degree at January’s meeting. They are: Lars Abel, Jessie Berisford, Greg Bowers, Judd Ellinger, Madison Fausnaugh, Andrew Gobel, Taylor Griebel, Kyle Kennedy, T.J. Miller,  Max Noll, Kayla Notestone, J.R. Rogers, Jodi Roush, Amie Schwalbauch, Laurie Segovia, and Cody Thomson. Congratulations!!!

National FFA Week

National FFA Week will be February 20-24. Activities are as follows:

Tuesday- Bib Day

Wednesday- Official Dress and FFA Jacket Day.

Thursday- FFA T-shirt Day.

Friday- Truck and Tractor Day.

I encourage you to participate and show your pride in the FFA!

Made for Excellence Conference

                 Made for Excellence (MFE) is a two-day personal development conference designed primarily for high school freshman and sophomores. MFE focuses on personal growth by providing students with many interactive opportunities. FFA members identify skills needed and desired for success. These activities provide participants with tools of motivation that are relevant to their everyday lives. Through fun and experiential learning students discover careers available in agriculture and the growth opportunities available within FFA. At the close of the conference and beyond, participants will be making more purposeful, meaningful choices that will lead them to excellence. This year our chapter has five members who will be attending on February 25th and 26th. They are: Judd Ellinger, Jessie Berisford, Christine Boso, Kayla Notestone, and T.J. Miller.

Public Speaking CDE

                The County Public Speaking CDE will be held on Monday, February 13 at Bloom Carroll H.S. The purpose of this contest is to develop agricultural leadership by providing FFA members the opportunity to participate in agricultural public speaking activities. There are four different public speaking CDEs. They are: Creed, Beginning Prepared, Extemporaneous, and Prepared. Members who have signed up are:

Creed: Brittany Pinkstock

Beginning Prepared: Jodi Roush

Extemporaneous: Adam Baldwin

Prepared: Crystal Covell

 Proficiency Awards

Proficiency awards were due January 27th. Members who applied in their respective areas are as follows:

Grain Production Placement: Christian Hoffman and Brad Bowers

Ag Mechanics Repair & Maintenance : Nic White

Accounting : Jessie Berisford and Stacey Sams

Turf Grass Management-Placement: April Senften

Specialty Animal- Entrepreneurship: Ashley Lamb

Dairy Production-Placement: Jodi Roush

Agricultural Processing-Placement: Kayla Notestone

State FFA Degrees and American FFA Degrees

                This year our chapter has two members who have met all of the requirements and applied for their State FFA Degrees. They are: Brian Bussert and Ashley Lamb. We also have two members who have applied for their American FFA Degrees. They are: Brad Bowers and Christian Hoffman. We will not know until the end of March if their applications are approved.
