FFA Meeting

                    The next FFA meeting will be Monday, March 20th. The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Ag Center. The Ag challenge for this meeting will be the volleyball tournament. After the meeting members will need to come to the school where the volleyball tournament will be held. Each grade will need to select three girls and three boys to make a team. Everyone can play but, there can only be 3 girls and 3 guys on the court from the same grade at the same time. 

New Officers

            Congratulations to all of the new officers! There were 13 eligible candidates for the 7 possible offices. These members had to complete an application and go through an interview. We would  like to send out a special thank you to all of the alumni; Ben Blosser, Lindsey Carpenter, Jon Singleton, and Jenny Zaayer and Erika Hardman who comprised the interviewing committee. The new 2006-2007 officers are:

President- Adam Baldwin

Vice President- Crystal Covell

Treasurer- Kayla Notestone

Secretary- Jodi Roush

Reporter- Jessie Berisford

Sentinel- Judd Ellinger

Student Advisor- Kyle Kennedy

Ag Breakfast

            The next Ag Breakfast will be held on Thursday, March 2nd at Tee Jaye’s at 6:30 a.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

National Farm Machinery Show

            Eighteen members attended the National Farm Machinery Show. In order to be eligible for this field trip, members had to sell at least 25 boxes or baskets of fruit. The members attending were; Seth Farmer, Andrea Brumfield, Greg Bowers, Kyle Kennedy, Crystal Covell, C.J. Broaddus, Bobbi Edwards, Josh Cordle, JD Stover, Nic White, Ryan Davis, Alisha Kougher, Ashley Lamb, TJ Miller, Alex Ogan, Brittany Pinkstock, David Sams , and Thunder Shahan . The chaperones were Mr. Sharp, Mr. Tilley, Joel Spires, Greg Pinkstock, Amie White (all A-C FFA Alumni members), Terrell Edwards , and Dave Edwards. We would like to specially thank all of the chaperones for going. Your help was greatly appreciated. Kyle Kennedy stated “This trip is well worth selling 25 boxes of fruit for.” These members stayed in Louisville Kentucky. A few things on the agenda for them were the Dayton Air Force Museum,  Jim’s International Market and the Farm Machinery Show.

National FFA Week

            National FFA week went very well. There were 18 members who wore bibs, 8 members who wore official dress, 16 members who wore their FFA jackets, 63 members who wore FFA shirts, 6 members who drove closed cab tractors, 13 members who drove open cab tractors, and 19 members who drove trucks. Thank you to everyone who participated.

State and American Degrees

            There are many prerequisites that must be met in order to receive the State and American Degrees. There were two members who submitted the completed application for the State FFA Degree this year. These two people were Brian Bussert and Ashley Lamb. There were also two  members that turned in the applications for the American FFA Degree. These two people were Brad Bowers and Christian Hoffman. We would like to send a special congratulations to these people for all of their hard work. Their results will be in at the State Convention in May.

Mulch Sale

        The mulch sale will start very soon. All members are encouraged to participate. The mulch sale is one of the chapters biggest fundraisers. We encourage all members to participate.

Upcoming Contests

            The district Tractor Troubleshooting CDE is coming up soon. Members on this team are Adam Foster and Cody Thomson. The Mt. Gilead invitational and the Marysville Invitational contests are also coming up soon. Good luck to all members of these teams which are; Agronomy, Dairy Cattle, General Livestock, Meats, Wildlife Management, Nature Interpretation, Equine Management. The State Contests will be on April 1st.

Officer Books

            Congratulations to all of the officers who submitted officer books. Crystal Covell’s Secretary’s book received a Gold rating. Jessica Caisse’s Treasurer’s book also received a Gold rating.   Ashley Lamb’s reporters book received a Bronze rating due to not having enough newspaper articles published although they were sent in. Congratulations to all of these officers.

Ag Sales and Job Interview

            Members attending in the district Ag Sales team were Shaelyn Iles placing 15th, Brittany Manson placing 2nd, D.J. Hopkins placing 16th, and Ashley Lamb placing 8th. Congratulations to  the team placed 2nd at district and will be going to state soon. Two members participated in the job interview contest. These members were Crystal Covell and Madison Fausnaugh. Madison placed 4th in the freshman/sophomore category and Crystal placed 3rd in the junior/senior category. Congratulations girls!

Ag Honor Roll

            The following students received an A or an A- in their Ag classes for the second nine weeks. In Ag Science I, the Ag honor roll students were; Ryan Davis II, Josh Cordle, Alyssa Jenkins, David Sams, and D.J. Hopkins . In Ag Science II, the students were; Greg Bowers, Judd Ellinger, Madison Fausnaugh, Kyle Kennedy, Jodi Roush, Cody Thomson, Jessie Berisford, Andrew Gobel, Kayla Notestone, Heather McGuire, and Heather Stevens. In Ag Business I, the students were; Adam Baldwin, Jessica Caisse, Crystal Covell, Kayla Hill, Ashley Lamb, and April Senften . In Ag Business II, there was only one student and that was Brent Poston . In Ag Production I, the students were; Courtney Cox, Matt Nestor, Stacey Sams, Laurie Segovia, Anthony Wampler, Adam Baldwin, Christine Bussert, April Senften, and Ben Ball. In Ag Production II, the students were; Brent Poston and Erika Hardman . In Ag Business Options II, Debbie Picklesimer was the only student. In Advanced Multimedia Technology In Agriculture, the students were; Tony Huston, Shaelyn Iles, Bryan Jeffers, Stacey Sams, Anthony Wampler, and Nic White . Keep up the good work.

 

Made for Excellence

 

         Made for excellence was the held at the Miami Valley CTC in Clayton, Ohio. Members attending were Jessie Berisford, Judd Ellinger, Kayla Notestone, TJ Miller, Jodi Roush, and Christine Boso . Members who got the scholarship award at last years awards banquet  got to go for free. The students had the opportunity to sleep but chose not to. These members attended 7 sessions. There was also a guest speaker from the Reptile Rescue. Members participated in many fun activities such as dancing, karaoke, bungee bull riding, sumo wrestling contests, movies, games, and euchre. There was also an Ice Cream Social and a Scavenger Hunt. The members attending also played many leadership activities.
