FFA Meeting

            The next Ag meeting is going to be on Monday, October 16th. The Ag challenge for this meeting is going to be the straw bale toss. Each grade will need one male and one female representative. The class with the largest combined distance will win.

Farm Science Review

            Eighty-two members attended the Farm Science Review. There were also members who worked at the Ohio FFA Foundation. These members were: Anthony Wampler, Courtney Cox, Heather Stevens, and Billie Jo Matthews. The weather was nice and everyone had a good time.

Amanda Lion’s Club Dinner

            There were 9 members who helped out at the Lion’s Club Dinner on September 9th. The members helped serve food, prepare food, and they also cleaned up tray’s. The Lion’s Club has been a big sponsor of our chapter for many years so we were very happy to help them out. We would also like to send out a very big thank you to the Lion’s Club for the donation they gave the chapter.

Chapter Trap Shoot

            Due to the bad weather conditions the trap shoot has been rescheduled for October 15th. If you have any questions about the weather call Mr. Tilley at home at 681-9590

Knox County Forestry

             Bobbi Edwards, April Senften, Josh Cordle, David Sams, Gene Brown and John Spellman were the members who participated in the Knox County Forestry Contest on September 28th. The team placed 2nd in the district and April Senften placed 1st individually overall. Congratulations April!

County Livestock Judging Contest

            The County Livestock Judging Contest is going to be Sunday October 8th starting at the Swine barn at the Fairfield County Fair at 3:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to participate. Those members who wish to be on the chapters Livestock Judging Team for this year must participate in this contest.

County Fair

            As most of you know the Fairfield County Fair is coming up soon. The FFA fair booth set-up is going to be Friday after school. Clean-up will be on Monday October 16th before the FFA meeting.

District Soils Contest

            The District Rural and Urban Soils Contests were held on Tuesday, September 26th. The members on the Urban Soils Team were: D.J. Hopkins, Kayla Notestone, Ashley Lamb, and Brittany Pinkstock . This team placed 11th in the District. The Rural Soils team consisted of Kyle Kennedy, Jessie Berisford, Bobbi Edwards, Jodi Roush, and Greg Bowers. This team placed 8th with Jodi Roush placing 4th individually overall. Congratulations Jodi.

Fruit Sale

            The chapters annual fruit sale is going to be beginning October 16th. All members are encouraged to sell fruit. This is the chapters biggest fundraiser, so the more fruit that is sold the cheaper the FFA activities will be. Members who sell 25 or more boxes of fruit will also be eligible for a weekend long trip in Louisville, Kentucky.

National FFA Convention

            The members that will be going to the National FFA Convention will be Sarah Rogers, Alyssa Jenkins, Jessie Berisford, Brittany Pinkstock, Holly Kidwell, Katie Beedy, Ashlee Reynolds, Josh Cordle, Kyle Kennedy, David Sams, Ryan Davis, Tyler Van Horn, Gene Brown, Teran Pinkstock, Scott Loudermilk, Chance McMaster, and Dylan Thompson. The chaperones are going to be Ms. Noll, Mr. Tilley, and Lisa Ferguson. The trip is going to be October 25th through October 28th. These members will be staying at a YMCA camp in Indiana. The members will get to go on four different tours which will include Poe Hampshires Tour. The members will get to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe and will also get to go to a Carrie Underwood concert. The will also be a Buckeye Bash that the members are attending. The members will also be attending many National FFA Convention sessions and will hear Terry Bradshaw speak. Brad Bowers and Christian Hoffman will also be receiving their American FFA Degree’s at this convention.

Hog Roaster for Rent

        The A-C FFA Alumni would like to let you know that they have a hog roaster to rent for anyone needing one this summer. It uses charcoal and rents for $25. Contact Mr. Tilley at the school if you are interested.
