FFA Meeting
The first FFA meeting is going to be on Monday, September 18th. It will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Ag Center. The Ag Challenge this meeting is going to be the egg toss. Each grade will need to have one male and one female representative. Sorry the newsletter is so late, but with it being the beginning of the year, we had to get all of the address changes made. Thanks for your cooperation.
New Members
We would like to send out a warm welcome to all of the new freshman FFA members. All of the members have access to the A-C FFA homepage. Washington Leadership Conference
This summer, the chapter sent Sophomore member Ryan Davis II and Junior member Jessie Berisford to WLC. They went to Washington D.C. on Tuesday, July 25th and returned on Sunday, July 30th. This was a national conference with FFA members from all over the U.S. At the conference, the members learned about the qualities of an authentic leader and also created Living to Serve Plans to take back to their chapters. There was also a lot of time for open sight seeing around the capitol and members were able to tour buildings and museums in D.C. FFA Camp
FFA camp was held at Camp Muskingum once again this summer. There were 25 A-C FFA members that attended camp, and there were a total of over 250 FFA members there. Those attending were: Lars Abel, Adam Baldwin, Jessie Berisford, Christine Boso, Greg Bowers, C.J. Broaddus, Tiffany Brown, Josh Cordle, Scott Daniels, Ryan Davis II, Judd Ellinger, Madison Fausnaugh, Pat Foley, Randy Forrest, Adam Foster, Megan Gierhart, D.J. Hopkins, Kyle Kennedy, Kayla Notestone, Brittany Pinkstock, Jodi Roush, David Sams, Stacey Sams, Laurie Segovia and J.D. Stover . There were activities members could go to such as: the rifle range, shot gun range, pistol range, bow range, volleyball, tetherball, softball and basketball. There were also many different leadership activities that FFA members could participate. Everyone had a very good time at camp this year!
Ohio State Fair FFA Hosting
There were 7 members who attended the Ohio State Fair FFA Hosting on August 2nd. Our FFA chapter has done this for many years to help out the Ohio FFA Foundation. Those members were: Fantasia Applegarth, Josh Cordle, Alyssa Jenkins, Brittany Pinkstock, J.R. Rogers, David Sams, and Ray Spence.
Poultry Booth
There were 7 members who helped in the Poultry Booth at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday, August 2nd. These members were: Adam Baldwin, Crystal Covell, Seth Farmer, D.J. Hopkins, Max Noll, Jodi Roush, and April Senften. The members helped to serve the food, prepared the food, and wait on customers.
Cattlemen’s Booth
Josh Bivens, Dylan Branham, Nathan Brumfield, Chirstine Bussert, Courtney Cox, Dustin Cox, Matt Hill, Emerson Martin, Matt Miller and Roger Sisler were the members in attendance on August 2nd for the Cattlemen’s Association Booth at the Ohio State Fair. The members helped to serve food, made food, and wait on customers.
Canoe Trip
There were 29 members who went to the Canoe Trip this summer. Those members were: Josh Ayers, Ben Ball, Dustin Baxter, Greg Bowers, Alyssa Brainard, Gene Brown, Tiffany Brown, Christine Bussert, Bill Davis, Bobbi Edwards, Seth Farmer, Andrew Gobel Matt Hill, Alyssa Jenkins, Ashley Lamb, Max Noll, Matt Nestor, Brittany Pinkstock, J.R. Rogers, Sarah Rogers, Jodi Roush, David Sams, Stacey Sams, April Senften, Haylee Shaw, Matt Taylor, Cody Thomson, and Megan Underhill. The members went canoeing on the Hocking River and had a good time.
Farm Science Review
The Farm Science Review is coming up once again this year. We will be going on September 19th. The Farm Science Review is a big convention of all of the new ideas and equipment in the agricultural world. This is a very informative field trip so all members are encouraged to attend.
Amanda Lion’s Club Dinner
The Amanda Lion’s Club Dinner was held on September 9th this year. The Lion’s Club has been a big help for our FFA chapter and we were glad to help them with this project. This dinner was at the Primary school in the cafeteria. Members helped pour drinks, collect ed food trays, wiped off tables, and helped clean- up. Members received 5 summer hours for this activity.
County Soils Contest
The District 7 county soils contest is coming up soon. The CDE is going to be on September 26th in Pickaway County at 9:00 a.m. Any member who is interested in this contest needs to sign up asap.
Officer Retreat
This years officer retreat was white water rafting on the New River in West Virginia. The officers traveled to Oak Hill, WV to the ACE Adventure Center for their rafting trip. At the officer retreat, the officers had a chance to get to know one another better and also plan out the chapters activities for the upcoming year. There were also team building activities and the officers worked on the chapters Program of Activities. The members who went were: Kyle Kennedy, Jessie Berisford, Adam Baldwin, Crystal Covell, Kayla Notestone, Greg Bowers, Ryan Davis II, and Josh Cordle.
Forestry
The upcoming Forestry CDE will be September 28th, at Knox County. All members wanting to participate need to sign-up ASAP.
Industry Tour
The Industry Tour was held on August 4th. Members went to tour the Amanda Hills bottling facilities in Etna, Ohio. They also toured the Mulch Manufacturing Inc. facilities in Reynoldsburg. There last stop was at the Hebron State Fish Hatchery. The members in attendance were: Ben Ball, Seth Farmer, T.J. Hines, Emerson Martin, April Senften, Ray Spence, Heather Stevens, and Matt Taylor.
Chapter Trap Shoot
The chapter trap shoot is going to be held at Lonnie and Barb Green’s house once again this year. It is going to be held on Sunday, October 15th.
