District Officer Training

The District 7 Officer Training and Leadership Seminar took place at Lancaster High School on April 12th, 2007.  District 7 consists of 26 chapters representing Fairfield, Ross, Pickaway, Licking, Knox, Franklin, and part of Richland counties.  Officers from these local chapters participated.

This seminar was intended to prepare officers for their upcoming year of service.  At the seminar each individual officer split into their respective office and had a workshop.  A guest speaker, Jack Greathouse, spoke about “being leaders at school” and “how important we are to the community.”   Also, two members from each chapter voted on our District 7 President, which will be announced at the State FFA Convention.  Jodi Roush was one of the two candidates running for District 7 President.  At the end of the workshops, food was served and the chapters left with their district plaques and awards.  Members that attended were: Josh Cordle, Alyssa Jenkins, Ryan Davis, Kyle Kennedy, Judd Ellinger, Kayla Notestone, Cody Notestone, Jodi Roush, Laurie Segovia, D.J. Hopkins, Megan Gierhart, and Sarah Rogers.

Here is a quote from one that attended:    “It was interesting.  I learned more about the FFA and met new people.” - Megan Gierhart

State FFA Convention

The State FFA Convention is May 3rd, 4th, and 5th.  On May 4th, members will leave at 6:45 A.M. from the school and head up to the convention.  They will participate in a State CDEs (Greenhand Quiz, Ag. Engineering Technology, Cooperative Education, and Farm Business Management) in the morning and attend the Second General Session.  Next will be lunch, a leadership workshop, and the Third General Session.  The group will then go to the Hometown Buffet for dinner and return for the Fourth General Session.  Finally, there will be the dance until around midnight and then members will head home.  On May 5th, members will see the State FFA Degrees presented, the offices who received gold ratings on their officer books will be recognized, and will support Jodi as she is running for a State FFA office.  Members are encouraged to  attend this activity! We would like to see at least 50 members attend the convention this year; permission forms and deposit money were due Wednesday, April 11th. We offered three trip options this year for Friday, May 4th. Members may attend all day and all evening, just during the day (for those who have sports or work after school) or just during the evening (for those who can’t miss school that day).  So members come and look forward to a fun time Friday and Saturday.

Chapter Awards Banquet

Don’t forget!!!

The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 4:00 p.m. in the cafetorium. All who receive this newsletter are welcome and ALL A-C FFA members are REQUIRED  to attend.

All students are required to attend the banquet.   We encourage all members to bring their parents and family members to the banquet to share in the accomplishments of your friends and of the chapter throughout the past year.  As in previous years, we are asking that families of freshman, sophomore, and junior members bring a dinner item; families of senior members bring a dessert item.  Official dress is required for students who have their FFA jackets.  Students show pride in who you are and what you are a part of by representing the chapter well.

Summer FFA Camp

Members need to turn in their camp forms by May 15th, 2007.  Summer FFA Camp is a fun week where you stay at Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum.  You do many activities lead by our state officers and meet many new friends.  Although many people think the two dances are the highlights of the trip you can: shoot at rifle & shotgun ranges, archery, motor boats, canoeing, basketball, volleyball, high ropes, and much more.  If you ask Mr. Sharp the highlight of the trip is the food!  All members are encouraged to come and see what the FFA is all about.

Baby Animal Farm

The Baby Animal Farm is when members bring in their animals and the elementary students come down to view them.  They learn about the animals and what it takes to take care of them.  This will take place on May 11th, 2007.  Anybody that wants to bring in an animal other than a cat or dog see Mr. Sharp.

Mulch Trip

The Mulch trip will take place from May 25th to May 28th.  The top sellers will be rewarded for selling the most mulch with this trip.  On the trip, they will do a series of caving and hiking trips.  It is a lot of fun and members enjoy the fellowship they have together.

CDEs at State FFA Convention

At the State FFA Convention members will participate in these four CDEs: Greenhand Quiz, Ag. Engineering Technology, Cooperative Education, and Farm Business Management.  Members participating in the Greenhand Quiz: Andrew Bennett,  Catelin Covell, Garren Dilley, Erin Evans, Jessika Harmon, Travis Hart, Eddie Johnson, Scott Loudermilk,  Chance McMaster, and Teran Pinkstock.   Members participating in the Ag.
