National FFA Week
With the busy school week we still managed to have our National FFA Week. We did not have school on Monday (Presidents Day), so therefore National FFA Week began on Tuesday February 17th. Tuesday was Blue & Gold Day. Wednesday was Tractor Day & Bib Overall Day along with the Dodgeball Tournament.  Thursday was A-C FFA Shirt Day and Teacher Appreciation Day. Friday was FFA Jacket/ Official Dress Day and 8th Grade Ag Awareness Day. Thanks to all those members that participated in those activities.
Assistant Officer Applications
Applications for Assistant Officers need to be turned in by Feb 27th.  You must have your Greenhand FFA Degree. The officers will be choosing their assistants on March 8th at the leadership team meeting. Their final decisions will be announced at the March meeting. Assistants do a lot for the chapter that is not seen by others. The Officers look forward to having to make some hard decisions on this one!

State FFA Degrees
Josh Cordle, Sarah Rogers, and David Sams are this years applicants for the State FFA Degree. The State FFA Degree is the second highest degree that can be achieved as an FFA member. This step in the FFA Degree system encourages students to grow and achieve personally toward establishing themselves in an agricultural career. We wish all our applicants good luck and hope to hear their results soon.
American FFA Degree
Jodi Roush is the only applicant for the American FFA Degree this year. We are waiting on her results along with the State FFA Degree results.

Proficiency Awards
Proficiency Awards take a large amount of work and time. You have to fill out five to six pages with information about your SAE project, provide six pictures with captions, and insert the costs, money earned, etc. correctly so they match your books. Public Speaking CDE
There are currently 4 public speaking contests offered by the Ohio FFA Association. Creed Speaking is available only to freshmen who recite the FFA Creed and answer questions about the Creed. Beginning Prepared is geared mostly for sophomores who present a 5 to 7 minute speech on an agricultural topic. The Extemporaneous Speaking contest is open to all 4 grade levels. Extemporaneous speakers draw an agricultural topic and are given 30 minutes to develop a 4 to 6 minute speech from materials they have brought with them and their own personal knowledge. The Prepared Speaking contest, often referred to as 'Senior Prepared', is open
to members in all 4 grade levels, but generally involves junior and senior members who present a 6 to 8 minute prepared speech. Emily Cordle was our Creed Speaker this year, placing 2nd in  the County, and 6th in the District, earning a Silver Rating. Lyndsey Alexander, was our Beginning Prepared Speaker, receiving 1st in County, and 8th in District, earning a Bronze rating. Daniel Quincel, Extemporaneous Speaker, received 2nd in County, and 6th in District, earning a Bronze rating. Our last, but not least, participant was Brittany Pinkstock, Prepared Speaker, who placed 1st in County, and placed 1st in District, earning a Gold Rating.  Brittany is the 1st member in chapter history (that we know or) to win the district in this contest. She will be competing in the state level on March 21st. Good Luck Brittany, Congratulations to all our Participants!
