    FFA Meeting Monday
May 10th at 7:00 P.M.
 
*A-C FFA Banquet*
    Each year, the chapter holds it’s annual chapter awards banquet. This year the banquet will be held on Saturday May 15th, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. At the banquet the chapter recognizes it’s members for there accomplishments in CDEs, SAE project books and there participation. Some of the awards that are handed out are: Notebook, Record Keeping, Ag. Scholarship, Ag. Mechanics, Leadership, Star Greenhand, Star Chapter Award, Outstanding Sophomore, Outstanding Junior, Outstanding Senior, DeKalb Leadership Award, Made for Excellence Award, Leadership Camp Award and the Memorial Award. The banquet is not just for members, but for parents to enjoy a night of good food, community fellowship and to see the accomplishments of the FFA members. All members must attend this banquet and all family are encouraged to attend. If you’re receiving this news letter you’re invited!

State FFA Convention
 
     Every year, the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA attends the State FFA Convention that is held at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The Convention is held for two days,  April 30th and May 1st. The Convention is made up of several sessions that the state officers and well-known presenters speak about experiences in life and leadership skills. Other activities include the election and presentation of the new state officers, proficiency awards are presented and the top contest teams and individuals are recognized. Brittany Stevens, Ryan Davis II and Kaleb Miller will be recognized for their Proficiency awards. These three members are already in the top 4 in state, its just a matter of what their final placing is and they will find out Friday April 30th. Brittany Stevens, Andrea Hollett and Hannah Chenetski will be recognized for their gold rating with their officer books. Brittany Stevens, Kaleb Miller, Cheyenne Jepsen and Tyler VanHorn will be receiving their State FFA Degrees on May 1st. Our Wildlife Management team and our Agricultural Communications team will be recognized for being the state winning team in that CDE area. Ryan Davis II will be recognized as Ohio’s Star American Farmer candidate.
 
State Environmental & Natural Resources CDE
 
    This is a team that consists of four members working together to solve different problems and perform different tasks related to natural resources and management.  The team must make a presentation about an environmental topic to a panel of judges. This is a new contest which our chapter has done very well, with placing 1st last year then placing 2nd this year. Tyler Genders, Aaron Miller, Nick Brumfield and Alex Norris made - up this years outstanding team! Since these four people placed second, they will be going on to Massachusetts to compete in this contest area against other teams this fall. This is an invitation - only contest and only 20 school in Ohio were invited. In order to be invited, you had to be in the top 5 in the state in the following CDEs: Urban Soils, Rural Soils, Forestry, Wildlife Management or Nature Interpretation.  Good luck Tyler, Aaron, Nick and Alex!!
 
Top Spring Fund Raiser’s Trip
     Every year we have our annual Spring mulch and flower bulb sales and the chapter rewards the top 15 mulch sellers and the top 2 flower bulb sellers by sending them on a camping trip. This is a four day trip that will take place May 20th-23rd. The trip will consist of: backpacking and modified rock climbing. We will be going to Red River Gorge area of Kentucky this year.
 
March of Dimes
    The March of Dimes is a United States health charity whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant morality. It was founded in 1938. Every year the chapter attends the the walk in Ross County and this year it was held on April 18th. Members that attended were: Josh Watkins, Madison Darnell, Josh Hampshire, Hannah Chenetski, Kylie Dunn, Alex Norris, Brianna Parrish, Daniel Quincel, Macy Riffle, Cody Epley, Jauni Stalder Kayla Porter and Brittany Stevens.
 
Outdoor Power Equipment
 
    The Outdoor Power Equipment team competed on April 23rd. The team consisted of Nate Seitz, Aaron Miller and John Miller. Out of 23 teams they placed 3rd in the state. Our chapter has never placed this high in this contest area let alone in the top 10. Nate, Aaron and John - congratulations on a job well done!!
 
State Animal Management
    The Animal Management team competed on April 20th at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The team consisted of: Hannah Carpenter, Scott Loudermilk, Carrie Stoneburner and Amber McCreary. The team placed 16th in the state. This is only the 2nd year we’ve competed in this contest area. Congratulations!
 
State Animal Health
    The Animal Health team competed in the state level on April 20th at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The team consisted of: Tyler VanHorn, Brittany Stevens, Caitlin Robinson, Colleen Trapp, Lyndsey Alexander, Becca Bentz and Heather Leddingham. The team placed 17th in the state. Congratulations!
 
State Aquarium Management
 
    The Aquarium Management competed on April 20th at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. This team consisted of: Jacob White, Mike Hite, Josh Watkins, Josh Hampshire, Titus Disbennett, Ryan Mundy, Jazmine Schorr and Taylor McFarland. The team placed 9th in the state. Congratulations!
 
State Agricultural Mechanics Skills CDE
    The team competed on April 9th at Ohio State University-ATI. The team consisted of: Scott Loudermilk, John Miller and Nate Seitz. The team placed 9th in the state. Congratulations!
 
Cooperative Education
    This contest consisted only of an online test that was held on April 22nd. The team consisted of: Daniel Quincel, Kelsie Sharp, Emily Cordle, Caitlin Robinson, Hannah Chenetski, Andrea Hollett and Kayla Porter. The team placed 16th in  the state. Congratulations!
 
FFA Camp
    Every year our chapter goes to FFA Camp in July and last year we set the camp record for bring ing 60 members, which was also a chapter record as well!!  Mr. Tilley and Mr. Sharp will be passing out forms for camp very soon. Keep in mind the more mulch and fruit you have sold, the less you will have to pay for camp. I encourage everyone to attend that has not gone FFA camp or for people that would like to return to camp for the fun or just to meet old and new friends. The camp forms and money will be due back May 25th.
