Next FFA Meeting |
April Meeting
The
next monthly FFA meeting will take place on Monday, April 15th at
7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria, due to mulch being in the a center. The Ag
challenge for this meeting is the Tug-Of-War contest. The line up for the
contest will be by class, with the freshman vs. the sophomores and the juniors
vs. the seniors. Each class will have a girl and boy team. The winners will
meet in the 2nd round and play for 1st and 2nd
place with the losing teams meeting in the conciliation round to play for 3rd
place and 4th place.

Mulch & Flower Bulb
Sale!!!
The
Amanda-Clearcreek FFA chapter is currently in the middle of their mulch and
flower bulb sale. All members are encouraged to participate in these
fundraisers, because the funds from them enable the chapter to go on all of the
trips and activities that they do. Members are also reminded to turn in all
money and receipts to Mr. Tilley ASAP so he can order the mulch. If you have
any questions or are interested in these sales, either talk to an A-C FFA
member or feel free to call (740) 969-7381 and leave a message. The mulch sale
will take place through April. All flower bulb orders are due April 12th.
April Ag. Breakfast
The
April Ag. Breakfast will take place on April 5th at Tee JayeŐs at
6:15 A.M. All members are encouraged to come. This is a fun event with good
food and fellowship! Bonus points are awarded to members who wear FFA shirts or
jackets.
Upcoming Contests
o Animal
Health: The Animal Health CDE tests
membersŐ knowledge of the animal health care industry. Students must identify
tools used in the veterinary field, small animal parasites, and demonstrate
various skills needed in the area of small animal care. The chapter may enter
as many team members as they want. The members of our team are: Katie Krile, Devon Mullen, Susan Householder,
and Kassidy McClure. The team will
compete at the State Contest on April 16th at the Ohio Expo Center.

o Animal
Management: This CDE tests
membersŐ knowledge of the animal species and equipment used in the pet care
industry. Students may be asked to identify different breeds of dogs, cats,
cavy, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Participants must also work as a team to
complete various tasks related to the care of such animals. The team,
consisting of: Carrie Stoneburner, Rachel
Stoneburner, Dylan Mullen, Devon Mullen, Autumn Spensor, Kaylee Reed, Amber
McCreary, and Matt Marshall, will
be competing at the State Contest on April 16th at the Ohio Expo
Center.
o Aquarium
Management: This contest tests
the studentŐs knowledge on the home aquaculture industry. Students are asked to
identify various species of freshwater and saltwater fish and other
invertebrates along with equipment used with fish tanks. Students are also
asked to demonstrate knowledge with the set-up and management of fish tanks.
The chapter may enter as many as team members as they want. The members of our
team are: Matt Notestone, Jaden Madison,
Devan Boyer, Madison Darnell, Nick Brumfield, Austin Stai, Josh Watkins, and Mikaila Drake. The team will compete at the State
Contest on April 17th at the Ohio Expo Center.
o Environmental
& Natural Resources Management: This is a team-oriented contest with four
members working together to solve different problems and perform different
tasks related to natural resources. The team must make a presentation about an
environmental topic to a panel of judges. To qualify to compete in this
contest, a chapter must have a CDE team place in the top 5 in the state in any
of the following contest areas: Forestry, Rural Soils, Urban Soils, Nature
Interpretation, or Wildlife Management. We
have qualified for this contest again this year, so the run off for the team
will take place on Friday, April 12th.
o Cooperative
Education: This CDE area tests
membersŐ knowledge and understanding of cooperatives as a type of business.
ItŐs a multiple-choice test, which will take place on April 25th. Any members
interested in competing in this contest need to sign-up ASAP!
o Outdoor Power Equipment: This CDE tests membersŐ
knowledge and understanding of small gasoline engines. The contest, which will
take place on April 2nd, consists of various stations where contest
participants must install valves, complete a parts ID, and answer questions
that deal with lubricants. The team must also take a multiple-choice test. Our
chapterŐs 3-member team consists of: Rachel
Stoneburner, AJ Wymer, and Carrie Stoneburner.

March Meeting
The March meeting took place on March 18th in the Ag. Center. Assistant Officers were announced at this meeting:

The Junior Fairboard Representative from our chapter was also chosen. This member must represent our chapter at all of the monthly Junior Fairboard Meetings and then bring back a report of the happenings and present it to the chapter at the chapter meetings. Adrian Wymer was chosen from the chapter to be this representative. The Ag. Challenge for the March meeting was the volleyball tournament. The seniors won the tournament, followed by the freshman in 2nd place, the sophomores in 3rd place, and the juniors in 4th place.
March Ag Breakfast
The March Ag. Breakfast was held at Tee JayeŐs on March 1st. All members are encouraged to attend the monthly Ag. Breakfasts. This is a great opportunity for members to eat good food and have fellowship.
Spring Skills Contests
The following CDE teams competed at the Marysville Invitational on March 9th and the Ashland Invitational on March 23rd. The following scores are the team placings from the Marysville Invitational; the scores from the Ashland Invitational havenŐt been posted yet: General Livestock placed 17th, Nature Interpretation placed 4th, Wildlife Management placed 4th, Equine Management placed 10th, Poultry Judging placed 14th, and Agronomy placed 8th. Individually from our chapter, Allyson Davis placed 1st in the Nature Interpretation Contest. Congratulations Allyson! All of the previous teams will be competing at the state contest on April 6th.
Other Contests Placings
State Job Interview – The State Job Interview contest took place on March 2nd. Nick Brumfield competed in the senior division, placing 3rd. Congratulations Nick!
District 7 Ag. Mechanics Skills – Nick Brumfield, Dakota Hawk, and Sam Byrd placed 4th in the district in this contest area. Individually, Nick placed 5th in the contest, which took place on March 5th.
State Public Speaking – There are four categories in the public speaking contest that members can choose to compete in: Creed Speaking, Beginning Prepared, Prepared, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Members who compete in these speaking areas must be placed in the top of their category at the district contest in order to qualify for the state. Nick Brumfield competed in the Prepared Speaking area on March 9th, placing 8th at the state preliminary contest.
District Proficiency Award Placings
Although all members are required to complete an SAE project, members who fill out a proficiency award must have an Ag. related project to do this. Members who fill these out must also have met all of the requirements from the state. There is a lot of work that must go into these award applications, and it takes a lot of time and effort. The proficiencies are then judged and if the project is in the top 4 from the district, it will continue on to the state where members must go through an interview. These members are then recognized for their efforts. The following list are the members, their proficiency area, and their placing in that area for the District 7 judging.
