Next FFA Meeting

The next meeting will be on December 21st at 7 P.M. in the Ag. Center. The Ag. Challenge will be the Feed Bag Hold, each bag weighs about 40 lbs. and there will be one boy and one girl from each grade level in this contest.

Upcoming Events

Ag. Breakfast: Breakfast will be on the 8th of January at 6:30 A.M. and the location is yet unknown. Remember that breakfast is always a great opportunity to eat a good meal with friends and family. At the last breakfast there were over 30 members present.

Zoo Lights: Every year the chapter goes to the Columbus Zoo for their ÒWild Light WonderlandÓ show. We will be departing from the school at 3 P.M. and will be retuning by 10:30 P.M. In order to qualify for this trip you must have sold at least 10 boxes/baskets of fruit. There will be 49 members attending, while on the way there they will be stopping for food.

Past Happenings

Holiday Food Drive: Recently the chapter went out around the community and passed out bags to those who lived in Amanda and Stoutsville. On each bag there is note that explains what this was for and asked people to donate non-perishable food items. After a week the students went back out and collected the bags from both locations to sort them and give them to the fire department. The food the chapter collected went to needy families in the community and there were more than two pallets of food donated.

State Officer Leadership Night: This event was held on Nov. 18th at Amanda- Clearcreek High School. This year there were 19 different FFA chapters in attendance with a combined total OF over 250 members, which is a record for our chapter. The State officers who were there broke them up into two groups. Within the groups we had workshops, where we learned about what amplifying your chapter means to you. Members were asked how they could help their chapter as well as themselves by discovering the different ways to influence their chapter.

Job Interview: On Nov. 23rd five members competed in the District Job Interview CDE, where senior Sydney Stinson placed 2nd, sophomore Emma Dearth placed 2nd, first year junior Blair Farmer placed 5th, junior Austin Smith placed 7th and freshmen Jalyn Fausnaugh placed 8th. In this competition members must present a resume, cover letter, write a follow up letter and perform a mock interview.

Fruit Sale: The chapter just finished our annual fall fruit sale. This yearÕs top seller was Carlie Krile selling 61.5 boxes/baskets of fruit and the top sales person will get extra FFA buxx that will help pay for trips, chapter events and FFA jackets. The chapter sold a total of 1207 boxes/baskets. We would like to thank everyone who bought fruit this year and supported the chapter.
