Next FFA Meeting

The next meeting will be November 16th at 7 P.M. and the Ag. Challenge is the Peanut Butter Face.

Upcoming Events

Ag. Breakfast: Breakfast will be on the 4th at 6:30 A.M. at Frisches in Lancaster. Ag. Breakfast is always a good opportunity to sit down and have a good meal with friends and family.

Holiday Food Drive: Each year our Chapter goes around the community and passes out bags to those who live in Amanda and Stoutsville. On each bag there is a note asking people to donate any non-perishable food items. After about a week, the members go back and collect any bags that are left on the doorsteps. Our chapter  partners with the Amanda Fire Department to help raise as much as possible. Over the years our Chapter has collected hundreds of pounds of food for those in need in our community.

State Officer Leadership Night: On Nov. 18th at 6 P.M. the chapter will be hosting the State Officer Leadership Night, where other chapters from around the area come to listen to state officers speak and partake in work shops. Very few chapters are selected to hold these event, and our chapter is usually selected. Once all the members are finished with the workshops, the chapter provides food and drinks for all the members.

Job Interview: The Job Interview career development event is designed to test the students on how well they prepare a resume, cover letter, write a follow up letter and interview for a mock employment opportunity. The contest is broken up into freshmen, sophomore, junior and first year junior/senior divisions.

Past Happenings

Fall Trap Shoot: This event was held at the Green residence on October 4th. Members who attended had the chance to experience shooting for a few hours. The chapter would like to thank Mr. Montoney and Mr. Eveland for helping!

Fairfield County Fair: The annual Fairfield County Fair was October 11th to the 17th, and our chapter had several exhibitors who placed in the top five of each category. There were five members who placed first in their respectable category, those members were: Anthony Snyder in Electricity, Austin Shannon in Ag. Communications, Garrett Drake in Alfalfa Hay and other hay and Johnathan Hackworth in Welding. Members who placed second were: Allen Reed in Electricity, Desirae Logsdon in Ag. Communication and Kaci Morin in Large Woodworking. Those who placed third were: Mack Smith in Electricity, Mallory Garrett in Ag. Communications and Sydney Stinson in Small Woodworking. There were two who placed fourth: Austin Shannon in Welding and Joey Drake in Electricity. Three of our members placed fifth: Sonny Drake in Welding, Trevor Young in Ag. Communications and Joey Drake in Market Hog Gilt Weight Class #29, and one of our members placed seventh: Joey Drake in Market Hog Barrow Weight Class #07. Congratulations to all who placed in the top ten at the county fair!

National FFA Convention: The 88th annual Convention was from October 27th to the 31st, and this year Samantha Young and Josie Montoney competed at the national level in public speaking, where Josie placed 2nd runner up and Samantha placed first runner up. Both Josie and Samantha presented their speech live, with over 10,000 people watching them. This is a huge accomplishment for our Chapter, considering there are over 640,000 FFA members in the United States, and over 25,000 in Ohio alone. Most likely no two students from the same school and FFA Chapter have ever placed in the final four in the nation in the same year at these challenging events. This year at convention the members went on various visits and tours consisting of the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum, the BlueSpring Caverns Mystery River Voyage and the Lousiville Water Tower Park. At National Convention there were two individuals and two teams who competed and placed at the national level. The Environmental and Natural Resources team consisting of: Dylan Mullen, Kayla Luft, Adrian Wymer and Josh Mezton placed 13th and earned a silver rating. The Ag. Communications team consisting of: Kylee Reed, Devon Mullen and Carlie Krile placed 20th which earned them a silver rating. This year the our Chapter had three past members get their American FFA Degree, which is the highest degree that a member can receive, those who received this degree were: Nick Brumfield, Rachel Stoneburner and Katerina Sharp. This year we had 38 members who attended convention and they include: Carlie Krile, Josie Mononey, Samantha Young, Kayla Luft, Kaylee Reed, Emma Dearth, Aubrey Meenach, Ashlin Whels, Mattie Grace Hamilton, Lilly Seifert, Lexie Kougher, Joce Palombo, Jalyn, Fausnaugh, Blair Farmer, Rachel Hizey, Makayla Hicks, Sofia Horn, Nelson Craycraft, Johnathan Hachworth, Tyler Hopper, Cody Roark, Austin Smith, Jessie Schooley, Trent Holbrok, Damacus Cummings, Michael Montoney, Kristin Lobo, Derek Lutz, Mason Lindsey, Noah Smith, Devon Mullen, Dylan Mullen, Josh Mezton and Adrian Wymer.

Hog Roast: The annual Hog Roast was on November 11th at 7 P.M. in the cafetorium. The chapter will provide the hog, rolls and drinks, but we ask that everyone bring a covered dish as well. We are asking that the freshmen, sophomores and juniors bring a dinner item and the seniors bring a desert. This is a fun way to participate in a chapter activity and hang out with friends and family while enjoying a good meal. This is a good way to show membersŐ parents what FFA is about, along with what we do in the organization.
