Next FFA Meeting |
The next monthly FFA meeting will be on
Monday September 21st, 2015. The Ag. Challenge is the straw bale
toss.

Ag. Breakfast: This Ag. Breakfast will be held at
Frisches on Friday the 4th at 6:30 A.M. Ag. Breakfast is an
opportunity for friends to get together and enjoy a good meal!!
Ice Cream Social: Our annual
Ice Cream Social will be on September 9th at 7 P.M. for freshmen and
any new members and 7:30 for returning members. In the first half hour the new
members and parents learn more about the FFA. New members will attend seven
sessions led by the officer team, where they learn about what opportunities are
offered in our chapter. Parents will be with Mr. Tilley, Mr. Sharp, and Mrs.
Montoney where they receive more information on the different activities their
children may be participating in. Once the new members are finished they join
the returning members and for the rest of the night everyone can enjoy some
socialization, ice cream and games!!
Big E Trip: On
September 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th
Josie Montoney will be representing the state of Ohio in the Job Interview
Contest. This is designed to test a studentsÕ ability to prepare a resume,
write a follow up letter and interview for a mock employment opportunity. We
are very proud of Josie!!
Farm Science Review: This year
the Farm Science Review will be on September 23rd. This is a three
day expo of equipment and products that provide attendees with an opportunity to
learn more about how the agricultural world works.
Forestry: The online
test will be on September 30th and the state contest will be on
October 3rd. Forestry is a contest based on the knowledge and
understanding of the forestry industry. This contest includes a multiple choice
test that includes tree species identification, tool identification, and
various practicums such as timber cruising, map reading and more.
Past Happenings |
Ohio Leadership Camp: OLC was
held on June 19th to the 21st, and this was much like FFA
camp, only smaller and it emphasizes on developing leadership skills. This year
our chapter had four members attend: Devon
Mullen, Kaylee Reed, Billy LÕHuillier and Emma Dearth.
Amanda Litter Clean-Up Day: On June 5th
members helped pick up trash along the Amanda Bike path.
Summer Trap Shoot: This annual
event was held on June 30th at 5 P.M., at Mr. SharpÕs house, and
everyone had a blast.
Thad Davis Memorial 5K Run/Walk: On June 20th
members from the chapter helped with the memorial run/walk. Members helped set
up and take down tables, chairs and more.
Summer Tour: This year
since the Tarlton Fish Fry was canceled the chapter decided to conduct a tour.
This was held on August 10th at 9 A.M. members who
went on this tour went to the Lamp Family Farms, Anthony Thomas Chocolate Factory
and The Phoenix Bat Museum. A big thanks to Rich Lamp and family for teaching
us about your farm.
Canoe Trip: The annual
chapter canoe trip was on July 1st at Paint Creek. Several people
went and had a fun time floating down the creek with friends and after stopped
for lunch.
FFA Camp: We had 41
members attended the 5th general session of FFA Camp at Camp Muskingum. Members
left on July 6th and returned on July 10th. During camp
the members had the chance to meet other FFA members from all over Ohio, and
meet the state officers. At camp members had the chance to develop leadership
skills along with making friendships that will last a lifetime.
Washington Leadership Conference
(WLC): On July 21st to the 26th Josie Montoney and Lexie Kougher toured our nationÕs capital along with learning
valuable leadership skills and experiencing personal growth. While at WLC
members donÕt just meet people from Ohio, but from all over the United States.
Each of these young ladies won one of the chapters Memorial Award, which
provides for the cost of the conference. These awards are given in memory of
two loyal former FFA members, Rusty Bowers and Becky Strickler. Josie was also awarded one of the ten
scolarships for this confernce through the state FFA association, which helped
to reduce the chapters cost.
Adopt-a-Highway Clean Up: The
adopt-a-highway was on August 7th at 3 P.M. Members cleaned the
chapters section of St. Rte. 159.
Pelotonia Bike Tour: The Pelotonia
Bike Tour was on August 7th. The bike tour starts in Columbus and
helps raise money for cancer research. This year our chapter helped tear down
seating for over 11,000 participants.
