The next FFA meeting is October 19th at 7 P.M. in the Ag. Center,  the Ag. Challenge will be the pizza eating contest.

Upcoming Events

Ag. Breakfast: The next Ag. Breakfast is on Friday, Nov 6th at Friches at 6:30 A.M.  Breakfast is a great way to start the day with friends and family and have a good meal.

National Convention: On October 27, the chapter will attend the National Convention held in Louisville, Kentucky. This is a great experience for members to meet other FFA members from all over the United States. Those who attend will attend sessions hosted by guest speakers that will talk to the members about some of their personal leadership experiences. We will be keeping our fingers crossed, as we will have nine members competing.  Good Luck to Josie Montoney as she competes in Extemporaneous Speaking, Samantha Young in Senior Prepared Public Speaking and our Ag. Communications and ENR teams as well! All of these individuals truly deserve our praise, as we know how hard it is to come this far.  Members, when not at the convention, will be treated to several tours.  Updates to follow É

Hog Roast:  DonÕt forget to mark your calendars for these years hog roast.  This annual dinner will be held on November 11th in the cafetorium.  The chapter will be providing the slow roasted hogs again this year.  This is our first big community event and we look forward to a great time of companionship and great food!

Past Happenings

Ice Cream Social: The chapter held its annual ice cream social on September 9th at 7 P.M. This event was not only for our returning members, but for our new members as well. The officers and advisors discussed what our chapter has to offer and what opportunities they can experience. The officers were able to get to know the new members and talk to them one on one, while the advisors talked more in depth with the parents and answers questions they may have had.  After the members went through sessions everyone met up in the cafetorium for ice cream, followed by a quick dance party in the gym.

Big E Trip: Josie Montoney represented the state of Ohio in the Job Interview contest in Springfield MA, where she placed third in the competition. This contest is designed to test the studentÕs ability on preparing a resume, writing a follow up letter and performing a mock interview for an employment opportunity. This contest reflects the real life skills many of the CDEs offer our members.

Farm Science Review: On September 23rd students attended the Farm Science Review. This three-day expo of chocked full of farm equipment and products provided attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the agricultural world and how it works.  Many students took advantage of the interesting talks along with great food and companionship.

Forestry: On September 24th Cody Roark, Tyler Hopper, Tierra Tooill, Billy LÕHuillier, Garrett Drake, and Shaylyn Stai, The team placed 6th in the district. Forestry tests each memberÕs knowledge about tree species, identification, tool identification, and various practicums such as timber cruising, map reading and more. We are very proud of our members.

Ag. Breakfast:  We had another great turn out at the October ag. breakfast held at Friches in Lancaster.  Their buffet style breakfast guarantees that everyone can find something they like and they donÕt have to wait.  The bacon and sausage links were definitely a big hit two months in a row.  Our football players definitely got the chance to fill up first thing in the morning.

Fall Trap Shoot: This years fall trap shoot was held on Sunday, October 4th.

The Green family once again hosted this traditional fall shoot. Their hospitality along with the bean soup and campfire made everyone feel welcome.  Students and alumni alike spent the beautiful day shooting up many boxes of clay birds with prizes awarded through the generosity of Ohio Valley Outdoor and Josh Locke.  A special thanks to Andy Montoney and Josh Locke whose safety training and expertise made for a safe and enjoyable shooting experience.
