Next FFA Meeting

The next FFA meeting will take place on Monday, April 15th at 7 p.m. This will be held in the high school cafetorium. This month’s Ag Challenge will be a volleyball tournament between the classes.

Upcoming Events

Ag Breakfast: The April Ag Breakfast will take place Friday, April 5th at 6:15 a.m., at IHOP in Lancaster. All members are welcome to attend as it is an excellent opportunity to have a pleasant breakfast with your family and friends.

Mulch Sale: The A-C FFA Chapter’s mulch sale is in full swing. We want to encourage all members to sell mulch. Also, we would like to remind everyone that the top 15 members who sell at least 250 bags of mulch are eligible to attend the annual Top Spring Fundraiser’s Camping Trip.

Upcoming CDE Contests

State Environmental and Natural Resources CDE: On April 12th, a four-person team will compete at the State Environmental Natural Resources CDE contest held at Central State University. To be eligible for this contest, a chapter must have at least one team place in the top five in the state for either the Forestry, Soil Judging, Nature Interpretation, or Wildlife Management CDE contests. Our chapter qualified in two of those contests with a respectable second place in Forestry and a fifth place in Nature Interpretation. Good luck to the ENR CDE team as they compete at the state level.

State Veterinary Science CDE: On April 17th, Cierra Andrews will compete at the State Veterinary Science CDE held at the Ohio State Fair and Expo Center. She earned the opportunity to compete at this contest due to her online test scores, as she was 17th out of the top 150 participants individually in the state. Good luck and congratulations to Cierra for qualifying to compete at this level!

State Animal Management CDE: On April 17th, Cortney Hudson, Bryson L’Huillier, Bayley Kohler, Jules White, and Abigail Workman will be competing in the State Animal Management CDE at the Ohio State Fair and Expo. Center. This contest will provide members with the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skills associated with companion animals in the pet industry. They also placed in the top 150 with their test scores. Good luck to this team!

State Agricultural Issues Forum CDE: On April 27th, the Ag Issues Forum CDE team consisting of Morgan Anderson, Allie Poston, Ellie Sahr, Kaylee Sharp, Sara Sharp, and Sydney Sharp will compete at the state contest held at The Ohio State University. This contest requires the team to deliver an approximately 15-minute presentation about an agricultural topic to a panel of judges, and then they must answer seven minutes of questions. Good luck to the team as they compete at state!

Meats Judging CDE: The Meats Judging CDE team will compete at the state contest April 27th. The team will be decided shortly. This contest requires members to rank various carcasses based on their meat quality and then identify cuts of meat from beef, pork, and lamb animals. Thank you to Rod Francis who has been coaching our team again this year. Good luck to the team as they compete!

Completed CDE Contests

Public Speaking CDEs: As mentioned before, on March 2nd, our A-C FFA public speakers traveled to the Marysville High School where they competed in the State Public Speaking CDEs. The top two contestants from each of the ten districts compete at the state level in their respective category; in other words, there will be 20 contestants in each category. The state semi-final round is broken into two heats of 10 each, and the top two in each room come back to compete for the final four spots of each category. Sara Sharp placed first in the state of Ohio for Creed. Aaron Sharp placed first in the state in the Extemporaneous Speaking Category. Kiley Holbrook placed second in the state in the Advanced Creed Category. Allie Poston placed top six in the state in the Senior Prepared speaking category. Finally, Morgan Anderson placed top ten in the Beginning Prepared Speaking category. To make it to the state contest is a huge accomplishment, but to have all five participants make it to the state level, and then to have three individuals place in the top two is incredible. Not only that, but both Aaron and Sara will represent the state of Ohio at the National FFA Convention this fall. Congratulations to these outstanding Amanda-Clearcreek FFA public speakers and all of their hard work!

Marysville Invitational: On March 2nd, the A-C FFA Chapter’s Agronomy, Equine Management, General Livestock, Meats Evaluation, Nature Interpretation, Poultry, and Wildlife Management teams competed at the Marysville Invitational. This invitational was an excellent way for the teams to practice and get a feel for their respective CDE’s before the state contest.

State Agricultural Sales CDE: On March 5th, our Agricultural Sales team competed at their state contest held in Marysville. The team consisting of Paige Hinton, Ellie Sahr, Jullian Scott, and Noah Smith placed second in the state. Up until now, no team has earned top five in this CDE in A-C FFA’s history. Many congratulations to this team! Thank you to Mr. Mensing and Carlie Krile for helping coach this years team.

Ashland Invitational: On March 16th, the A-C FFA Chapter’s Agronomy, Equine Management, General Livestock, Meats Evaluation, Nature Interpretation, Poultry, and Wildlife Management teams competed at the Ashland Invitational. This invitational was the last opportunity for members to compete before the state contest. Congratulations to all of the teams for representing the chapter well.

State Spring Skills CDEs: On March 23rd, the chapter’s Agronomy, Equine Management, General Livestock, Nature Interpretation, Poultry, and Wildlife Management teams competed at their state contests held at the Ohio State Fair and Expo Center.

Congratulations to all of the teams for representing the chapter very well once again!
