Recap of the Month of December

Ag Breakfast:  The Monthly Ag Breakfast was held on December 2nd at 6 am at Friches. All members were encouraged to attend and bring their families to enjoy good food before going to work hard at school. We would like to thank Frishes as always for allowing us to come and have a great time every month.

A-C PTO Secret Santa: The PTO asked for volunteers for their annual secret santa. The secret santa activity was held on December 3rd from 9 am to 2 pm in the 77 gym. We had a great turnout with volunteers from our FFA Chapter and were glad to see everyone doing their part for their community! We hope to see everyone back next year!

Monthly Meeting: The monthly ag meeting was held on December 19th  at 7 pm in the ag center. Members discussed the upcoming events for January. The ag challenge was the feed bag challenge where members had to hold a feed bag above their heads. Whoever held it the longest, won. The senior class won this challenge with President, Hannah Saum, holding the bag for over 5 minutes.

Columbus Zoo Trip: The annual Columbus Zoo Trip was held on December 20th. Members who sold 10 boxes of fruit or snacks were given the opportunity to attend the Columbus zoo lights with the chapter. This is a fun-filled reward for members to hang out with their friends and go to the zoo to see the lights. We hope everyone had fun and that more members are encouraged to sell fruit and snacks to attend next year!

CDE Results

State Job Interview: The State Job Interview Finals were held on December 3rd, where Jillian Bennett competed for the national spot. Jill was required to partake in a mock interview and write a cover letter and follow-up letter. Shs has previously placed first in the county, district and state preliminary rounds. Jill placed first in the state and will now be competing at the national contest in Indianapolis, Indiana next fall. This is a tremendous honor and we are so proud of her accomplishments!!

Upcoming Events in January

Ag Breakfast:  The Monthly Ag Breakfast was held on January 6th at 6 am at Friches. All members were encouraged to attend and bring their families to enjoy good food before going to work hard at school. We would like to thank Frishes as always for allowing us to come and have a great time every month.

Monthly Meeting: The monthly FFA meeting will be held on January 19th in the ag center. Members should come ready to discuss the upcoming events for February. This includes elections for your 2023-2024 officer team! Be ready to vote for next year’s leadership team!

Upcoming CDE’s

State Ag Communication Online Exam: The State Ag Communications Career Development Event Online Exam will be held on January 10th. The team consists of Hannah Suam. Emily Buckley, Riley McKeska and Jillian Bennett will be quizzed over various questions about editing according to the associated press manual. Depending on how well the team does, it will determine where they are placed to begin with, for the state contest. This test factors into their final score and could determine the difference between receiving a banner and not. Goodluck team!!

Drop The Mic Invitational Preliminary: The Drop The Mic Invitational will be held on January 23rd and 24th. This is a great opportunity for students participating in the Public Speaking CDE to get a feel for what the state contest will be like. An invitational can be compared to a scrimmage, as it too prepares them for the upcoming state competition.

State Ag Power Diagnostics Online Exam: The State Ag Power Diagnostics Online Exam will be held on January 24. The test will be over engines and repairs. This test will be factored into the final score at the state contest.

State Environmental/Natural Resources Online Test: The State Environmental/Natural Resources online exam is going to be held on January 31st. Again, if you are interested, reach out to Mr. Tilley for details.

Final Thoughts

There are a lot of CDE’s coming up and I encourage all of you to get outside your comfort zone and try something new. With that being said, study hard and keep your grades up. We are halfway through the year, so keep pushing. Seniors get involved as this is your last chance to do CDEs. I hope everyone had a great holiday and a happy New Year!
