Next FFA Meeting
The next A-C FFA meeting will be held on Monday, May 19th at 7 p.m. in the Cafeteria. This will be the last meeting of the 2024-2025 school year until we resume in August. The assistant officers will be running this meeting so they can get practice being in charge of meetings for when they become officers. After the meeting, there will be a cookout for all members who attended the meeting. Everyone is encouraged to go since you can hang out with others and eat well.
Upcoming Events
Baby Animal Farm and Ag Day: As the end of the school year approaches, the A-C FFA Officer Team is preparing for its annual Baby Animal Farm and Ag-Day. Any member of the chapter who is interested in bringing in livestock and/or appropriate animals for the Baby Animal Farm may sign up to do so. All students K-12 at A-C can visit the Ag Shop to walk through the Baby Animal Farm. The officer team is also organizing our annual Ag-Day for third grade students at Amanda-Clearcreek. The Ag-Day includes a detailed explanation of all of the animals at the Baby Animal Farm, hands-on activities such as potting a plant and a cow milking simulation, a machinery display, a hayride and a sweet treat to wrap it all up. The officer team always has such a great time promoting agriculture to young students and teaching them about the world around them.
A-C FFA Chapter Awards Banquet: The annual Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter Awards Banquet will take place on Saturday, May 5th at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The banquet is a recognition of all the hard work and success our chapter has had over the last year. All members are expected to attend the banquet. Members are also asked to wear official dress if they own a jacket and if not they may ask Mr. Tilley about getting a loaner jacket. Before the award recognition ceremony, a meal will be served and table service will be provided. Freshman, sophomores and juniors are asked to bring a covered dish and seniors are asked to bring a desert. This is a family event, so we would like to see all members bring their families to join us in a good meal and reflect on the great success of the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter!
State FFA Convention: The Ohio State FFA Convention will be held on May 1st and 2nd in the Celeste Center on the Ohio State Fair Grounds. This year we will be awarding 5 of our members the State FFA degree. This year Emma Strickler, Cate Buckley, Travis Spence, Maddie Cordle, and Caiden Garee were awarded. Braeleigh Blosser was awarded a gold rating on her secretary book, Rylyn Foster received a gold rating as well on her treasurer book, and Emma Strickler was awarded a gold rating on her reporter book. Emma Strickler will also be recognized for winning the state contest in the Advanced Prepared Speaking category. We encourage all members to attend the Ohio State FFA Convention to join in recognizing our members for all of their accomplishments this year. It will be a great convention! Don’t miss out!
Top Spring Fundraiser’s Trip: At the end of May, our chapter will be sending our top 15 Spring fundraisers to the Red River Gorge area in West Virginia. They will be gone from June 2-4. During this trip members will be going to be doing many activities such as modified rock climbing, going to places that hold the history of places in West Virginia and to a big reptile zoo. These amazing activities these members get to experience are one of a kind for our top sellers in the chapter. We encourage everyone to sell enough mulch next year to be able to experience a trip like this!
State House Visit: Emma Strickler, Maddie Cordle, Catherine Buckley and Haley Robinson travelled to the Ohio State House on May 8th to be recognized for their achievements last Fall at the National FFA Convention and also the tradition of excellence that our FFA Chapter has upheld at the State and National levels for over 20 years. They were able to have the incredible honor of meeting and talking to Ohio Governor Mike Dewine and his wife. Our Members were also recognized on the Senate floor by Senator Tim Schaffer for their achievements as well. Also, as a double bonus, they even got to meet OSU Head Football Coach Ryan Day. It was an incredible day for our FFA Members and our Chapter! This is a huge honor for our chapter and these ladies themselves. Congratulations!
This Summer
A-C Alumni Award Night: On Saturday June 7th The A-C Alumni is hosting their 100th banquet. We ask that we have some members help set up tables for this banquet for which they provide a lot for us. This is a great community service activity and the help is needed. See Mr. Tilley or Mr. Sharp for more information or questions.
Ohio Leadership Camp: This year we have 5 members participating in this 4 day camp from June 20th to June 24th. The following members will be attending this camp, Alayna Leppert, Greta Helser, Coltyn Anderson, Reese Melton, and Justin Seymour. They will be learning many leadership skills and qualities that they can bring back to the chapter!
Washington Leadership Conference: WLC is a 5 day trip to Washington D.C. where 2 selected students Alayna Leppert and Sophia Dossman will learn many leadership skills through other members, keynote speakers, and activities to bring back to the officer team and chapter. They will also get to walk around Washington D.C. and visit many cool places!
FFA Camp: On the dates of July 7th to July 11 the Session 5 of the Ohio FFA Camp will take place. All members are encouraged to attend as it will bring many memories and friendships. Talk to Mr. Tilley for more information.
